SOLUTION 5: INCOME-GENERATION FOR HIV/AFFECTED FAMILIES AND IMPOVERISHED FAMILIES

Impoverished small-scale farmers can benefit from enterprise. This program targets mostly HIV+ women. These skills help them to acquire extra income and enable them to send their children to school. This activity is also therapeutic because it gives them rewarding, constructive occupations. Examples:

  • Clothing making: G-BIACK has taken an initiative of training farmers in making clothing for sale, and for their own families. G-BIACK has 12 sewing machines for the purpose of training.
  • Basket making
  • Pottery work: using clay soil, women make pots that they sell for income.
